Perla on Broadway Reaches the Top at 35th Floor

Residential Project in Downtown LA’s Historic Core Celebrates Construction Topping Off;
First Look at Virtual Tour Debuts

LOS ANGELES – Perla on Broadway, the 35-story mixed-use condominium development located in the Historic Core of Downtown Los Angeles, today invited hundreds of guests to celebrate its milestone “topping off” event. Developer SCG America hosted construction workers, community members and development partners, who all gathered in a ceremony to sign the beam and send it soaring 35 floors high in the air as it reached the top of the building, symbolizing that the project has reached its highest structural point.

“Standing amongst the crowd and watching the beam rise above us filled me with great pride today, this is a very special milestone for Perla and seeing it come to life alongside the people who built it was a great honor,” said an SCG America representative.

Hundreds of guests gathered this morning to commemorate and honor teams working to bring the project to fruition. Perla initially broke ground in fall of 2017 and is slated to open in 2020 to meet the growing demand for housing in Downtown Los Angeles and specifically in the Historic Core.

“Our team at Swinerton has been working around the clock on this project since it started nearly two years ago,” said Swinerton President Jeff Hoopes. “Since then, we’ve had more than 1,700 workers on the job for a total of 480,000 hours and have built nearly 380 feet all with the goal of opening Perla on Broadway to its residents next year.”

A virtual tour of the new residences – which can be viewed here – was also unveiled today featuring a lifestyle-driven clip showing a firsthand experience of life at Perla and the surrounding historic core. With 35 stories of stylish interiors, modern amenities and a colorful neighborhood of walkable hotspots, Perla is poised to be the first and only high-rise residence in the storied neighborhood. Architecture firm CallisonRTKL designed the building to echo the appearances of adjacent historic structures with a slim tower structure, ornate wrought iron grilles, vintage railing and an architectural colonnade.

Located at 400 South Broadway, on the corner of 4th and Broadway, the residential tower will feature 7,000 square feet of ground level retail, surrounded by today’s leading brands, such as Apple and Urban Outfitters, which have taken up residence in converted historic theaters nearby.

After much anticipation, the Perla sales center opened late last year with an unprecedented 85 percent of the first phase’s 120 condos sold in just two weeks. Since then, the demand for these units has been strong with more than 30 percent of the 450 units sold.  Following this success, the developer plans to unveil 60 more condo homes in the “Summer Collection Release” on July 27th. With studios starting in the low $500s and going up to Penthouse Sky Homes on the top floors for up to $1.5M, Perla provides a wide range of home options in the Historic Broadway Corridor.
