Beverly Hills Rings in the Year of the Pig with Entertainment from China

Beverly Hills—The City of Beverly Hills kicks off Chinese New Year celebration today at the historical Saban Theatre with entertainment from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province of China.

The 2-day event is hosted by Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau, in partnership with Beijing Association for Culture Exchange, Tianjin Association for Cultural Exchange and Hebei Association for Cultural Exchange, with the support of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles.

Arts performance highlights Peking Opera, Chinese folk dance, folk music, martial arts, and world-class acrobatics.

“Tonight we are here to celebrate for the 8th time in our own fashion the Chinese New Year,” said John Mirisch, Vice Mayor of Beverly Hills.  “We are very excited to celebrate the Year of the Pig once again working closely with our local and Chinese partners to bring entertainment all the way from China.”

China remains one of Beverly Hills’ top feeder markets and the city is committed to catering to its Chinese visitors.  Chinese New Year Celebration has become a signature event of Beverly Hills.

“I hope we can use this opportunity to further promote the mutual understanding and friendship, and also use this opportunity as a platform to expand our cooperation in trade, economic ties and cultural exchanges,” said Ambassador Zhang Ping, the Consul General of China in Los Angeles.

The event is sponsored by Delta Air Lines, Stefano Ricci and Two Rodeo Drive.

In addition to the variety show, a “Charming Jing-Jin-Ji” photo is on display in the for guests to experience the Spring Festival culture, folk customs as well as economic and social development in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province.
