Chinese New Consul General Arrives in Los Angeles

Los Angeles—Ambassador Zhang Ping arrived in Los Angeles over the weekend to assume his new office as the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles.  Felipe Cusnir, Director of International Trade-Los Angeles Mayor’s Office went to Los Angeles International Airport to welcome and greet Zhang on behalf of the City of Los Angeles.

Zhang, age 55, a career diplomat, joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in 1985, and subsequently served as Attache, Third Secretary, Second Secretary, First Secretary, Counselor, Ministerial Counselor at Chinese Embassy in Viet Nam, Chinese Consulate General in New York, Chinese Embassy in Australia, and Chinese Embassy in the United States.  The most recent office he held is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China in the Republic of Fiji.
