LASD Homicide Detectives assisting Monterey Park Police Department with Death Investigation

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing to assist Monterey Park Police Department with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man that was discovered Monday, March 21, 2016, at approximately 6:00 pm in the 200 block of south Lincoln Avenue, Monterey Park.

Detectives have arrested Suspect Andy Chen, male Chinese, 09/24/1978, who is a resident of San Gabriel.  He was arrested on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in the city of San Gabriel.

The Victim has been identified as Min Gu, male Chinese, 02/26/1986.

The Los Angeles County Department of the Coroner has revealed the victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives believe the motive for the murder was a financial dispute.

Suspect Chen has been arrested for murder and is being held in lieu of 1,000,000 bail.  He will be held pending formal charges being filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

There is no additional information available at this time and the investigation is on-going.
